Dungeon Siege II (Broken World) Steam Fix by Killah:

Select the Main MEGA Link: WEB ADDRESS ONLY
Then right click and open the web page (VARIES WITH BROWSER) e.g. New Tab
Open in New Tab

That will open the Mega page where the files you need are
Click on «Download as ZIP» in top right corner.
It takes a short while to pack the ZIP, then you will get a Save dialogue from your browser, or download it direct to your «Downloads» Folder.

Open Windows Explorer and browse to where you Downloaded it.
If you can’t find it search in Explorer for:
Dungeon Siege II Steam Fix by Killah.zip

You need to right click on the ZIP file, and select Extract, or Open to see the contents.(Your Explorer settings may hide the «.zip» part)
Alternatively select «Open with» and choose «Windows Explorer»

Extracted Contents
These are a Folder and two Reg Patch files (Your Explorer settings may hide the «.exe» part)
Copy the Reg Patch you need to the games Folder.
Reg Patch (32-Bit).exe
Reg Patch (64-Bit).exe
Dungeon Siege II Steam Fix by Killah

If you have a 64-bit PC use the 64-bit Patch, if you have 32-bit PC use the 32-bit Patch
Drag and Drop the Reg Patch you need to the games Folder in Steam.
Default is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Dungeon Siege 2

If you installed Stem in another place you should know where that is.

Next you need to open the Folder, so you can see the contents

Contents are Various Files and Folders
If you can see this File (With, or without «,exe part)
DungeonSiege2.exe
And This Folder
Resources

Then Select All the Contents, option found on «Home» tab of Ribbon Toolbar, or under «Edit» menu if you’re still using Classic Explorer.

Drag and Drop all the contents into the games folder.
When it asks you if you want to merge a folder, tick the «Do this for all current items» box, and click «Yes».

If it asks you about files with the same names, select «Replace the files in the destination».

Finally open the game folder and click on the Reg Patch file you coped earlier.
If you get a security warning, from Windows Defender, or whatever you use allow the reg patch full access to your PC.

You should see a Window with a Dungeon Siege Picture, and a button saying.
Click here! To Reg Patch

Click it, and «Yes» you’re sure, and «OK» you’re done.
Play game and enjoy the DLC as well.

I’ve tried to cover everything, but just ask if you have issues, and be patient.
I will respond when I see it.

all right boys. for two days of hard work i figured it out. you cant see the clear problem definition when you search so here is the problem and how it will be fixed:

ok.. you write the exe things fullscreen=false width=1366 height=768 etc the game says «1024×768 startup resolution» bla bla..and now switcing the fullscren mode. and opens the game in fullscreen mode aaand voila. you will have no mouse cursor again. :/

fix: the problem is «switcing to fullscreen». your screen and games resolution 768’s conflicts. you need to have bigger screen resolution for your monitor than 768 to run in «windowed mode» and prevent it to switch to fullscreen.

fix it connecting a bigger screen monitor. i use the tv with hdmi and it alows me 1920×1080 so when game opens menu stays top left side (because of the fixed startup resolution) but mouse shows up. dont worry. if you start the game the «fullscreen=false width=1920 height=1080» kicks in and at gameplay screen there is no problem.

conclusion: use a bigger resolution monitor 1920×1080 and fullscreen=false width=1920 height=1080

and thats it you are good to go

this game is only compatible with windows 10 update version 1607.
if you have a higher update version can this give you a problem with the mouse curser that you can’t see in the game.

But the solution of this issue is easy to fix.

if you have windows 10 1907 update version downgrade you windows 10 update version to 1607 and you mouse curser problem is fixed.

Ok, so looks like i was able to solve the issue with running in window mode, but run a few configs to mimic full screen. Run in window mode, set the resolution to the same as your monitor. You will notice this errors saying screen size will be larger then the available area, this is due to the borders around the window. Use a compatibiltiy fix below.

Set the ForceSimpleWindow compatibility fix using the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7352

All will be well. If anyone has problems or doesnt want to install the toolkit drop me a line and i can send you a saved compatibilty db file from mine, that you can then just install.

You didn’t mention what graphics card you are using. I know NVidia graphic drivers for WIN 8.1 have a problem running DS2. The game use to run for me perfectly in Win 8 until I upgraded to Win 8.1 and then while I could load the game, the cursor wouldn’t move properly.

After investigating possible solutions on the Net, the only one that worked for me was to choose integrated graphics for the preferred graphics processor option for DS2 in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Luckily DS2 depends more on the CPU for performance than the graphics processor so even with Intel 4000 HD graphics it runs well. Obviously this won’t help you if you don’t have a NVidia Card or integrated graphics and I think the option to even switch graphic processors only exist in later versions of the NVidia Control Panel.

I put this comment into a similar ‘no mouse’ thread for this game.. and I still have no resolved it but will try the suggestions above then reply back.

I also don’t have my pointer once I launch the game. Once I go into the ds2videoconfig.exe it comes up telling me I don’t have a good enough video card or one that has 32mb of video memory.. I have an Nvidia GTX 1070 with 8GB.. so I don’t know what else to try. Any ideas?

Well. none of this resolved the issue for me. I have Windows 10, have an Alienware Area 51 r2 with i7 6800 @ 3.4GHz, 32GB DDR5 and Nvidia GTX 1070. I have a 256GB SSD as drive C: and Steam is installed on it. Otherwise I have a Logitech G502 and everytime I run the game it locks up on the main menu and the mouse pointer doesn’t exist but if I move the mouse then I can see it popping in and out on the screen. I also have 2 x 27 inch Asus 4K UHD monitors and my mouse pointer can be seen flickering into the other monitor but that’s the only activity of my own doing that I see in the game.. Otherwise nothing works.
